FAQs

Q. Where do you get all your treasure items from?
A. Lost Galleon is a member of the American Numismatic Association and we strictly adhere to their Code of Ethics. In acquiring our coins, we work diligently with numerous treasure salvagers, auctions and other worldwide reputable treasure sources. When there is a new treasure discovered that we feel is special, we do our best to get pieces from it.
Each of our rare coins that we acquire must be unique, high grade (most are grade Very Fine to Extremely Fine) and attractive, but also must have an interesting history about it. The shipwreck pottery we offer was found on some of our favorite colonial shipwreck dive sites in the Eastern Caribbean Sea. We have been in the treasure business since 1994 and online since 2009. Lost Galleon is committed to offering our customers the highest quality, greatest selection and best value in authentic treasure coin jewelry!

Q. Are all of your treasure pieces authentic?
A. Every treasure item offered on our website is absolutely genuine has our Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity. We do not sell replica coins or those coins claimed to be made with salvaged shipwreck silver.

Q. When I purchase a coin pendant, will it be the exact one shown on item picture?
A. Yes, every piece on our website is one of a kind and you will receive the exact treasure item that is shown on the product picture. Q. What is the best way to maintain and care for my treasure piece?
A. Coins will tarnish over time, especially when exposed to the oils of your skin. To keep your coin jewelry looking great, here are a few “do’s and don'ts” for your treasure coins and gold jewelry.
Avoid wearing your treasure coin jewelry in water, but especially in salt water, chlorinated pools and hot tubs, which will accelerate the tarnishing process.
To take off the tarnish buildup, use mild soap with distilled water and gently rub with your fingers for about 30 seconds on your treasure piece, then rinse thoroughly and gently dry with a soft cloth.
Coins and gold jewelry should Never be cleaned with any solution containing ammonia, alcohol or other harsh ingredients. Do not use silver polish to clean your coin. Never clean your treasure jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Remember, these coins are very old artifacts and should be handled with care.

Q. Will you do a custom bezel for my coin?
A. Sorry but we only do jewelry settings for our own treasure pieces that are offered on our online store.

Q. How is the jewelry made?
A. Our jewelry is made to the highest quality, timeless heirlooms that can be passed on to future generations. Lost Galleon jewelry is handcrafted and begins with .9999 pure 24k gold, as we NEVER use recycled scrap gold or melted down bullion coins in our jewelry and every piece is stamped with its carat weight. As you may imagine, making coin jewelry is a very specialized craft. We have a great master goldsmith who carefully custom frames each piece into a variety of distinct jewelry styles.
There are many other jewelers that will grind down and alter treasure coins to fit standard cast bezels and rings since it is much easier and cheaper to make jewelry this way. With Lost Galleon it is extremely important that the treasure coins are not damaged during the jewelry setting process. We believe in preserving the history and value of each artifact in our rare jewelry so that it can be displayed as it was originally minted.
Also, we do not use synthetic stones. All of the diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds in our jewelry are high grade, conflict free and totally natural.

Q. Can the rings be re-sized?
A. Yes, our rings can be professionally re-sized up to one size larger or one size smaller. Please note that once a ring is re-sized Lost Galleon cannot accept the item as a return or exchange.
